Crossogue Preserves
Veronica Molloy
Crossogue Preserves began from very humble beginnings, starting out in the basement of Veronica Molloy’s family home. It has grown into a successful branded business.
Crossogue Preserves sells jams, jellies, marmalade, curds and relishes and its products can be found in some of the most elite food houses and retail outlets nationwide including Blarney Woollen Mills, Kilkenny Design Shops and Avoca Handweavers to name but a few. The company now produces over eighty different varieties of high quality, natural, full-flavoured preserves.
First Step supported Veronica with development finance to enable her to take advantage of a new contract with Blarney Woollen Mills and to automate the labelling process.
Veronica and her team believe that traditional cooking methods combined with the highest quality ingredients and control procedures is the recipe that makes their preserves a little luxury enjoyed by the connoisseurs of today. By using high quality natural ingredients and by maintaining superior quality control, Crossogue Preserves has become renowned as a quality brand.
Since its inception the company has taken Gold, Silver and Bronze every year at the Great Taste Awards in London and has amassed twenty five international awards cementing its position as a premier producer of preserves in the country. In July 2007, Crossogue Preserves won five Gold Medal Awards in London and won a feted Bridgestone Award.
Having succeeded in establishing itself in retail outlets and specialist gourmet food stores, Crossogue Preserves has diversified into the expanding and profitable gift hamper market. Crossogue Preserves have also been adopted as the preservessole preserve makers for the g Hotel in Galway and the new Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt in Wicklow. The business continues to grow and is developing a presence on the internet. Expected increased turnover from internet sales and from expected export markets will mean that the company must build a new cottage-style factory at Crossogue House and this is the next exciting development for Crossogue Preserves.
The turnover for the business has increased steadily over the last number of years and there has been a significant increase of 33% in turnover from 2006 to 2007 which reflects the strong marketing drive undertaken by the company and the success of the hamper business.
