First-Step Microfinance
First-Step Microfinance provides loans of up to €25,000 to start up or expanding new businesses. First-Step gives more people a chance to realise their dreams as entrepreneurs. If you have lost your job in the recession, or are newly unemployed and wish to start a small business but have difficulty securing finance from traditional banking sources, First Step can help you.

Labour Market Activation
In addition to this, First-Step has received additional funds from the Labour Market Activation campaign. With the support of the Activation Funds First-Step is setting up 10 regional micro-enterprise learning networks, for unemployed people who wish to become self-employed. Each learning network will aim to strengthen the entrepreneurial potential of each participant.
The Community Foundation for Ireland
First-Step has been appointed by The Community Foundation for Ireland to implement a response to self-employment in the Dublin South East Inner City region. The project will be implemented over a 2-year period and will aim to help unemployed people who have difficulty securing finance to start up small enterprises to enable them become self-reliant through self-employment.
